Darron Bennalford Anderson's and a co-defendant's original convictions in the case previously had been thrown out because Tulsa District Judge Clifford Hopper erroneously instructed the jury that a defendant is "presumed not guilty" rather than "presumed innocent.". Pled guilty to two counts of manslaughter which resulted in a sentence of 115 years and a sentence of 25 years to be served consecutively. The men overpowered an officer and stole his police car, later abandoning the car but taking with them an AR-15 automatic rifle and an M-1 carbine, which they used to steal a pickup truck from an oil-field worker.
